Future-Retro Build Lab · '95 Aesthetic, '26 Studio

If we can't buy it,
we build it.

Bit95 is a future-retro build lab — live activations, interactive installations, custom machines and one-off tech built to draw a crowd. Lights up, reacts, makes people queue: that's the brief.

Why one studio makes all of this

It started with a wedding.

The first idea was a claw machine — something futuristic and a little other-worldly, for a wedding, loaded with prizes. Getting them made in the small quantities we needed turned out to be genuinely difficult to source. Solving that led to prototyping some of them ourselves. Prototyping led to a handful of other "imagine if" ideas that had nowhere to go. Bit95 is where those ideas go.

Idea

Yours, or ours. A claw machine, campaign balloons, 3D-printed glasses, an NFC wristband.

Source & prototype

We find what can't be bought off-the-shelf, and build what doesn't exist yet — in-house, fast.

Build, run, test

In the real world, in front of real people — an event, a campaign, a market.

Sometimes, graduate

Some ideas stay one-offs. Some earn a permanent home as their own business. All of them start here.

What the lab makes

Not a menu. A workshop.

Most studios hand you three services and call it a day. We start from your idea and build backwards. Here's a sample of what's come out of the lab — it is not the full list, because the full list isn't written yet.

Selected output

Straight from the bench.

Real builds, prototypes and concepts. Different objects, different briefs — because range is something you show, not something you claim.

The first build

Proof it works.

This is what "source what's hard to find, prototype what doesn't exist" looks like once it's built: a precision claw-machine cabinet, designed and fabricated in-house to disappear behind your brand and light up a room. The first thing Bit95 made. Not the only thing we make.

How we work

From weird idea to a crowd.

You don't need a finished spec. You need the idea. We handle the rest, start to finish.

01

Tell us the weird idea

The event, the audience, the thing you wish existed. We reply within a day — even if it's never been built before — with a plan inside 48 hours.

02

Design & build

We prototype, fabricate and program in-house — cabinet, code, marquee, wrap, prize mix. You approve as it takes shape.

03

Deploy & run

We install on-site and staff it. You get the crowd; we handle the machine and everything behind it.

04

Data & recap

Plays, dwell time, opt-ins — packaged into a recap you can take upstairs.

Who's building it

One bench. One obsession.

VOLT — Founder & Chief Builder

Started Bit95 because most "tech" stopped feeling like anything. Most days: at the bench, prototyping, soldering, arguing with a CNC — turning odd briefs into things that shouldn't work, but do. New studio, old obsession.

On the roadmap · Bit95 Space

The sourcing and prototyping already happens.
Next, it gets a door.

Every build runs on the same engine, on commission or as our own experiment: hunt down what's hard to source, prototype what nobody's made yet, test it in public. Bit95 Space gives that engine a physical home — you walk in with an idea and walk out with a way to make it. A safe space for it, too: built for anyone from a first-time tinkerer to a seasoned engineer, the way D&T class never asked what you already knew, just whether you wanted to build something. Our tools, a room full of people who build, and a direct line to production.

Open build floor

Prototype hands-on with our machines, printers and benches. No gatekeeping — book time and come make the thing.

Collaborator network

Idea but no engineer? Skills but no idea? The Space is where builders, designers and founders find each other.

Low-MOQ production

Make 10, not 10,000. Small production runs so you can test a real product without a factory-sized order.

Direct manufacturer line

Vetted factory connections with real contracts, not just an invoice — skip the middlemen without skipping the protection that keeps your IP yours.

Pooled shipping discounts

We consolidate freight across the community, so a solo maker ships at rates usually reserved for bulk buyers.

Come as you are

Highly technical or picking up a soldering iron for the first time — the only prerequisite is the will to learn. Think Design & Technology class, not machine shop. (We're still a business, so there's a membership fee — but never a skill gate.)
